This painting was in the backseat of my car, on the way to a gallery drop-off, when we spotted an actual chicken on the side of the BQE (Brooklyn Queens Expressway).
Crazy! There were DOT workers stopped and holding up traffic, so I pulled behind them and my friend Bek jumped out and grabbed the chicken as they yelled us for stopping!
He saw the chicken in the backseat (this painting) and agreed, you have to get her.
We took her to ACC and then she had a shot at sanctuary life at Tamerlaine Sanctuary in NJ. But before she enjoy her new freedom and life, she passed away.
Her name was supposed to be Matilda.
What a flood of emotions. She will never be forgotten and to me, she represents the “strong-willed bird within.
Regal and strong.
