I started taking a representational oil painting class in 2006 in a beautiful place called Snug Harbor in Staten Island. I took my supplies each week and painted among other people for 4-6 hours each Wednesday. I loved it!! It was a large studio with tall and bright windows overlooking a gorgeous park.
This was the second painting I did while I was attending that class. The canvas is so old that there are staples on the side! My signature is even different! (Newbie!)
It was one of the paintings in my very first art show!
I chose to paint these purple/blueish hydrangeas in a basket. It was challenging and I was so new to oils. I painted from 2006-2009 and then took a very long break and didn’t paint with oils again until 2018!
This is a piece of my past and a part of my journey.
